A shoulder light wrap should rest across the neck base, shoulders and upper back without making you hold your arms up or pull your head forward. Fit it while switched off, check the light-facing surface and make sure the controls remain easy to reach before starting.

This cape-like format is for broad shoulder-line care. For a small region at one shoulder, the local-wrap comparison may lead you to a different choice.

What you are trying to cover

That format serves a recovery goal: light interacting with tissue without repeated mechanical kneading, spread across a connected area that often feels tired after work or activity. See the neck-pain evidence guide for the research rationale.

Cover the region you intended to care for; do not stretch, fold or pull the device to chase every sore point. A local shoulder target and a broad neck-and-back target are different placements.

Fit it before switching on

  1. Choose a stable seat. Keep the head comfortable and support your arms. Arrange reading or a screen so you do not need to lean forward.
  2. Inspect the wrap. Check the surface, seams and controls for visible damage. Follow the charging directions supplied with the unit.
  3. Orient the light-facing side inward. Drape the wrap over the shoulder line in its intended orientation, with the upper-back section lying smoothly rather than bunched behind the neck.
  4. Check both sides. The wrap should rest where you want coverage without pulling across the throat or holding one shoulder higher.
  5. Reach the controls without straining. If you have to lift an uncomfortable arm or twist to operate it, adjust the setup before use.

A mirror or another person can help check the back section. Do not pull the wrap tighter to compensate for an orientation that is wrong or a fold that is reducing contact.

Make the touchscreen easy to reach

The current Shoulder product page identifies touchscreen adjustment and a power-button screen lock. Place the control where you can read the display and reach it with a relaxed arm. Check your selected settings before settling into the chair.

Use the screen lock according to the instructions for your unit so accidental touches do not change the settings. For session length and frequency, use the model-specific guidance supplied with the wrap; this fitting guide focuses on getting the position and control access right.

Comfort is a setup check, not a brightness competition

The wrap can provide care while you sit and rest, read or wind down. Avoid leaning hard against the controls or bunching the wrap under a chair back. Stop and reposition if it slides, creates pressure or makes you brace your shoulders to hold it in place.

Uncomfortable heat, persistent skin irritation or worsening symptoms are reasons to stop. Do not use strong warmth as the target: near-infrared light is not visibly red, and what you see or feel does not by itself measure tissue exposure.

Finish while awake, switch off and remove the wrap before sleep. Follow the supplied cleaning directions; do not soak or wash an electrical device unless its instructions explicitly permit the method.

Place the session in the routine you actually need

After a desk day, first put the work away and support your arms. The workday recovery guide connects that interval to useful changes during work.

If you also enjoy upper-back massage, use the combined routine to choose separate, comfortable sessions rather than stacking devices or increasing every setting.

A good setup lets you stop thinking about holding the device in place. Match the coverage to the shoulder line, keep the head and arms at ease, and use the controls and timing for your actual unit.
